DJ Hero drastic price drop
by EJah on Apr.15, 2011, under News
In October 2009, the ground breaking music game DJ Hero came of for PS3, XBox 360 and Wii. Awesome game, gets
you hype and has some great mixes even of some very terrible songs. Whoever thought you would be jamming to Young MCs Bust a Move. This game made music game of the year in 2009. Now the reason I didn’t buy this game was I was already up to my ears playing Guitar Hero and Rockband and most importantly the steep price tag of $120. I was like Activision GTFOH! Then October 2010 came DJ Hero 2 with pretty much the same MO as the first game except more music, more DJs and better game play and still the same heavy price tag. My attitude remained the same GTFOH $120 you must be buggin out or something. Now here we are 6 short months later and the price is down to $30 including the turntable. You can get DJ Hero for $20. Check out Gamestop store or Gamestop.com, this is the time and this game is no doubt really fun. If you have kids especially teenagers it’s a perfect bonding tool. Even if you don’t have the skills to play the game, it’s fun to watch.
Freeway Rick Ross to be in court against rapper Rick Ross again
by EJah on Apr.12, 2011, under Artists, Hip Hop Politics, News
Freeway Rick Ross the ex-gangsta drug lord who did his time and has recently tried to sue Rick Ross in Federal court
regarding the use of his name. The Feds didn’t like the fact that he got his name from illegal activities and threw his case out. Now Freeway is going to to sue the Boss in California state court with a new team of lawyers, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP. Apparently Freeway’s new lawyers feel they have a great chance on the state level because they’re suing Def Jam, Rick Ross and threatened to sue the new label he signed with, Warner Brothers, if they put out any new music. Props to Freeway for not taking it to the streets, because I’m sure he still has some friends that wouldn’t be so diplomatic with Rick Ross in the streets.
Nate Dogg’s house forclosed
by EJah on Apr.12, 2011, under Hip Hop Politics, News
I’m not going to say much on this situation because it’s stupid sad. Nate Dogg died on Marc 15th, papers were drawn up to
foreclose on one of his houses on March 17th because he was behind $5,924. WTF?!? First of all the debt was only $6,000 (let’s just round up $76), second of all, damn you couldn’t even let the man be dead for more than two days before you start taking his sh!t?!? I really want to find out what scumbag (hey that word is in the dictionary it didn’t even underline red) mortgage company did this so I can warn you what company NOT to get a loan from.
Nicki Minaj to open for Britney
by EJah on Apr.12, 2011, under Artists, Events, News
Britney Spears just signed Nicki Minaj to open for her tour that kicks off this summer. Spears needed a new act to tour
with her for the latest album effort Femme Fatale (and Britney sure has been Fatale in the past few years) after Enrique Iglesias pulled out soon after the announcement was made. Per TMZ the two came to an agreement and Britney plans to make an official announcement today (April 12th, 2011) about her tour plans. Good move Britney sign the contract then make the announcement. At first I was thinking that the two music styles would clash, but then again, two fine young pop tarts touring together. One with all kinds of problems that she seems to have gotten a hold of and another rising star who seems to be keeping it together. Hmmm maybe Nicky can teach Britney how to not let her life fall apart while being famous. Then again, maybe Britney will show Nicky how to take a dive and make a comeback. Either way some good news for us to write about. Britney’s tours kicks off on June 17th in Sacramento California.
Foxy Brown kicked from Tom Joyner Cruise
by EJah on Mar.28, 2011, under News
Hahaha, we’re here laughing at Foxy Brown’s crazy a$$ again. This time she got booted from a cruise to the beautiful Caribbean where she could have had a nice vacation, but instead she got kicked off the boat and escorted to the airport. So what has happened to our beloved Foxy Brown, every few months she’s getting into trouble, making the news with her craziness or just plain saying something stupid. Now afterward, she calls into Tom’s radio show I guess to make amends and starts crying on the air and such. But then she went on a rant blasting Tom on Twitter, so I don’t know she starts acting crazy one minute, nice the next and then back to crazy. No details on Foxy’s actions on the boat from Mr Joyner but I’m sure it had something to do with her mouth and liquor. Oh well we may have to fill out a 730 I for to admit her to the nut house soon.
Da Brat making a comeback
by EJah on Mar.28, 2011, under Artists, Hip Hop, News
Da Brat being behind bars for the last 2 years for aggravated assault is free and now looking towards a comeback. I sure
hope for the sake of female rappers that she can make a comeback. Her last effort in 2003 Limelight, Luv and Niteclubs, was very bland and her rap style sounded played. She said while in jail she wasn’t motivate to write rhymes but did write some memoirs of her troubled childhood. She said she has two and a half years of bullsh!t to talk about and she’s ready to get into the studio. She has her good points and her bad points about her comeback. Good point is that she has Jermaine Dupri backing her still, bad point is the Nicki Minaj syndrome. People nowadays aren’t looking for skilled rappers but more like some plastic Lil Wayne wannabe. Who knows, I hope she can come off hot and be a good edition to the female rappers out there, who are few.
DJ Megatron shot near Staten Island home
by EJah on Mar.28, 2011, under Artists, Hip Hop Politics, News
DJ Megatr0n was shot dead near his home in Staten Island around 2am on Monday March 28th. One shot to the torso of the 32 year old man from 106th and park fame. Police have no witnesses, motive or any type of clue as to why he was shot. Hope we don’t have another Biggie/Tupac fiasco where the killer is never found. As sad and cynical as the song by KRS 1 is, “If you wanna get away with murder, kill a rapper,” there rings some truth to that. Peace to Megatron, Corey McGriff, and his family. His mother giving statements to the news was rightfully distraught.
Nicki Minaj breaks Billboard record
by EJah on Mar.06, 2011, under Artists, Hip Hop, News
Nicki Minaj is breaking records, 14 consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard to 200 albums for Pink Friday. Congratulations to
Nicki, that is amazing, mainly because I don’t think she raps that great, but I have to give her props though for being in the top 10 for so long. After going back and forth with Lil Kim regarding who’s the best rapper and hot many albums Kim sold on the internet. Seems like Nicki is winning the battle in that category but you should see album cover on Lil Kim’s album with Kim beheading Ms Minaj.
MC Rhymefest to run for office in Chicago
by EJah on Feb.28, 2011, under Artists, Hip Hop Politics, News
ABC News reports that Rapper Rhymefest is trying to run for Chicago City council. He seems very serious and passionate about running for office. Besides a youthful following in Chicago, he also has the support of the Chicago Teachers Union. Problem is he has a criminal record and that may hamper his running for office. Also if he may not get elected if he keeps sticking his tongue out at press conferences. He says he wants to make Chicago a better, safer place to stay. Yeah I hear what he’s talking about because Chicago has so many murders, I moved there for better opportunities as far as work and moved back to NYC to be safer. But on the real though, no one really cares because a lot of people outside of Chicago don’t even know who Rhymefest is. We at HipHope.com wish him the best of luck….

Game Dies Rumor
by EJah on Jun.21, 2010, under News
Whoever started the rumor that rapper The Game was shot in the head and died is so wrong for that. Game denies the rumor of course, and is probably on Twitter right now chatting about it. Game’s R.E.D. Album is coming out Aug 21st, 2010.
Aubrey Louis Berry Accused Killer Of Rapper Dolla On Trial
by EJah on May.04, 2010, under Artists, News

Aubrey Louis Berry accused killer of rapper Dolla
Accused murder Aubrey Louis Berry in court is accused of killing rapper Dolla and then retrieving his car and driving around the body. Audrey’s defense lawyer claims self defense and say Louis was threatened by Dolla. The accounts of the opening statements say the two had a fight two weeks before his murder at a strip club in Atlanta, where they both lived. By chance they were both at a valet area of the Beverly Center mall in LA on May 18, 2009. Deputy District Attorney Robert Grace told the jury Berry fired 8 shots at Dolla and his friends, 4 of which hit him, 3 of the bullets in the back as he tried to run. Afterward Berry drove his car around Dolla’s body has he laid on the ground dying. Wow! That’s going to be hard to argue self defense. Dolla, who’s real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II was an artist that Akon was putting out, he already had two songs with Akon. Dolla was in the studio working on his studio album and touring at the time of his death. Such a shame, another Hip Hopper dies. But Dolla didn’t even get a chance to really shine.
Gucci Mane Fires Manager And Launches His Own Label
by EJah on May.04, 2010, under Artists, Hip Hop Politics, News
Gucci Mane is doing a lot from Jail these days. He recorded an album (well at least one song from jail) and n0w he fires
his manager Debora Antey and left Mizay Entertainment. He also cut loose his promoter Johnnie Campbell and Hitt Afta Hitt Enterprises. He is also leaving So Icey Entertainment label and launching his own label, 1017 Brick Squad Records Inc. He told AllHipHop.com, “The rest of 2010 is going to be real major. I’m taking control of all of my business properties and keeping the focus on my career, my music and my artists. All the pieces to the puzzle are finally in place and once I get home it’s Gucci time.” He is now being managed by First Avenue Management, with David Bolno, Managing Director at Nigro, Karlin, Segal & Feldstein as the manager of his business affairs. CAA will now handle his show bookings. Seems like Gucci is cleaning up his act all together as I have the same confidence he’ll clean up his act as he is released from jail. Well this is the second time in a month that Debora Antey has been fired, she was also fired by Nicki Minaj for not getting her paperwork in order to go on tour with Rihanna.
Chicago Bringing In The National Guard To Help With Crime
by EJah on Apr.28, 2010, under Hip Hop Politics, News
Chicago is basically bringing in martial law by bringing in the National Guard to help curb the violence. If you read an earlier post regarding Chicago violence that I wrote, you will get an understanding of what the Chicago community is going through (41-people-shot-in-50-hours-in-chicago). Chicago must stop the violence, they’re not calling it martial law, but it sure sounds like it to me. Maybe martial law without the curfew. Sad world we’re living in.
Afeni Shakur Tupacs Moms Arrested For Drug Possesion
by EJah on Apr.28, 2010, under News
Afeni Shakur was arrested in North Carolina for drug possession on April 16th, 2010. Afeni Shakur famed mother of Tupac and Ex-Black Panther member was charged with felony possession of Marijuana, simple possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance in Lumberton, NC. Her fight with drug use was mentioned by Tupac in the song Dear Mama. When I first heard about this, I thought is was going to be some serious drug that she was caught with. It was just marijuana, even though the charges sound serious, she’ll most likely get a misdemeanor charge. Afeni is currently out on $10,000 bond and is due back in court on May 10th. Seems the police don’t have anything better to do in NC then to arrest old ladies for marijuana possession. I guess they should send them out to Chicago to help with the violence problem then.
