Eminem talking raps that he’s better than Jay Z and Kanye
by EJah on Mar.06, 2011, under Hip Hop Politics, Music
Eminem had a leak of a record this week with a verse saying he sold more albums than Jay Z and Kanye West. The single “I
Get Money” was leaked over the internet sometime last weekend. Check out this verse from the song. “They keep on saying the same rappers are the best, Jay-Z and Kanye West/ Maybe they’re just trying to distract you from the fact that I’m coming back/ Or maybe it’s cause I ain’t black/ Maybe it’s because of that/ Maybe it’s because I’m the highest selling artist in rap.” They say it wasn’t meant to be a dis to Kanye and Jay, but I don’t know, you particularly call someones name out and say you sell more records then them sounds like a dis to me….
M1 talks about upcoming Dead Prez album
by EJah on Mar.06, 2011, under Artists, Hip Hop, Hip Hop Politics, Music
Just when Hip Hop is getting sad and depressing here comes come good old fashion realness. Hip Hop lately has been plagued with falseness. False breasts, rhymes, battles, rumors, record sales or whatever else is going on. M1 is coming out with a new album soon, it’s been a while since we heard anything from from them. 2009′s Pulse of the People album was OK, but not great, but we’re used to getting great music from them. From the sound of the first single played during the video, looks good for them! Information Age by Dead Prez coming soon….
Tired of your kids watching foul videos and listening to foul music…
by EJah on Feb.22, 2011, under Artists, Hip Hop, Music, Strickly For Kids
I know most of the music videos on BET and MTV are foul, full of half naked people dancing and visuals of people doing things I don’t want my kids doing. I really don’t want my two year old dancing and gyrating to music that talks about having sex and living a life of crime. On the other hand most of the music made for kids will actually make you wanna choke at the quality of what’s being put out there. But for the most part, PBS has been doing its thing. Most artists have been making videos for Sesame Street, Electric Company and other shows. With good music and real artists making them. Here are a few examples then you can check the sites. Artists entertaining as well as teaching…..
Wycleff with the Electric City Slide
Queen Latifah teaches about the letter O
REM with Happy Monsters
Sean Kingston, Two Ways to Say C
Neyo Transformer H
Electric Company kids doing the Slide and Drop.
Hip Hop is not a music category it’s a cuture!!!!!
by EJah on Feb.21, 2011, under Artists, Hip Hop, Music
People have forgotten about Hip Hop as being an art and not just a money making apparatus. When Hip Hop first started there was only two turntables, break beats, MC’s, dancers and the crowd. Many have forgotten the art of DJing and break dancing. Well the Cut Cafe internet broadcast features live DJs on the wheels of steel (and of course the virtual wheels of steel). The broadcasts are live so you have to listen at certain times, but it always seems to be on and you can peep older shows.
There’s a wide variety of DJs on this station and most of the time they’re hot. You’ll hear scratch DJs, mix DJs, prop Djs and more, listed below is the schedule…..
Hip Hop is MCing, DJing, Dancing, Artwork, Knowledge, Skills, Staying Fresh to Death and Original. Let’s get back to the ART FORM and not the material……
HipHope.com is back in full effect!!!!!
by EJah on Feb.17, 2011, under Artists, Events, Hip Hop, Hip Hop Politics, Models, Music, News, Strickly For Kids
We’ve been away for a while, there’s been a lot going on in the Hip Hop world. Music coming out, artists dying, in jail, new beefs and more going on since we were away. All that is over and we’re back for good this time.
Showcasing artists, bring news, music, politics all related to Hip Hop on the real. We’re also adding a new feature strictly for the kids where we will give you music that you can play for your kids that teaches also. Big props to Wycleff, Queen Latifah, Swizz Beats, Jimmy Fallon, Common, REM, Patti Labelle, Stevie Wonder, Lena Horne and all the artists that give there time to entertain and educate children.

Kool G Rap Teaching Rap
by EJah on May.15, 2010, under Artists, Hip Hop, Hip Hop Politics, Music
Kool G Rap is now teaching rapping, he released a book entitled, How To Rap: The Art And Science Of The Hip Hop MC. Sounds like a great idea and no better person to teach than him. Back from the early 80′s through the 90′s
Kool G Rap blazed the mic and was listened from West Coast, Down South and East Coast back when the coast wars were going on. Check the video for his song On The Run was considered a classic in the art of story telling. HipHopDx.com has an extensive interview with him on their website. It’s informative and long, you may have to come back to read the
whole thing. So this could set a trend and get Hip Hop taught in school since it’s part of our culture more than anything. Listen to the lyrics in this track, it’s wonderful MCing (wow, I just made a new Hip Hop phrase, Wonderful MCing!) I love it in this video when he says, “Wake up stupid we gotta go!” Check it, let me know what you think….

Trina-Amazin May 4th 2010
by EJah on May.04, 2010, under Artists, Music, Review
Trina’s album Amazin finally dropped today, May 4th 2010. Coming from Fla, she’s been the self proclaimed Baddest B**** in the rap game. Until recently the weak rhyming, no style of her own, Lil Wayne female clone Nicki Minaj came out this year. Trina’s been rocking since 1998 and came out with her first album in 2000. Now there’s a big question today of who’s the better rapper, Nicki Minaj or Trina. Seems like once you pass the age of like 29, you’re old in the game. But now we’re going to find out about Trina’s album first since her album is out now and Nicki’s album isn’t out until later this year. Listening to Amazin I got a feel of here’s more vintage Trina (I love her southern accent). Then I listened to the song Dang A Lang featuring Lady Saw and Nicki Minaj. This song is no doubt hot and the best verse that I ever heard from Minaj. She sounds like Trina on this song and not Lil Wayne this time. Hey that might work for her. Other guest appearances on this album from Diddy, Keri Hilson, Flo-Rida, Git Fresh, Monica, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Lyfe Jennings and Shonie. The song Million Dollar Girl feat Diddy and Keri Hilson is straight terrible. Sounds like a Nickelodeon version of Last Night, Diddy has been terrible lately. Other stand out tracks on this album besides Dang A Lang are, I Want It All featuring Monica, Currency featuring Lil Wayne and Rick Ross and That’s My Attitude. The rest of the album is like some mellow R&B music. All in all a pretty good album, no doubt show’s the different musical styles she has. We’ll give her a 82% out a 100. Check out some of the tracks from the album on her Myspace music player below.

Devin The Dude-Room 420
by EJah on Apr.29, 2010, under Artists, Music, Review
Devin the Dude has a new album out, came out on April 20th, 2010. We all know what kind of music
it’s gonna a be. Some straight up sit back-relax-as you blaze one with your girl type music. And as usually he delivers with some funky beats and smoothed out rhymes with his Chicago accent. Devin the Dude is one of the best rappers to come out of Chicago in a while. Not your normal gangsta rapper that seems to be in abundance from that area, but a chill and having fun while smoking type music. Most of you haven’t heard of him since he’s not your pop-rapper that gets played on the radio 20 times a day. Room 420 is almost a perfect album with almost every track a stand out track. But most of all the stand out tracks are We Get High, Pick My Brain, I Gotta Ho and All You Need. This album is a must have for all the smokers and playas out there in the Hip Hop world. We’ll give this album a 88% out of 100. Check a preview of a few of the songs off the album below from his Myspace page.
Common Recording Album With Kanye West And No ID
by EJah on Apr.28, 2010, under Artists, Hip Hop, Music
Common is coming back after a very well put together album in 2007, Universal Mind Control. Not the best album of the year but still a decent album. But Common isn’t supposed to be known for putting out decent material. Now in 2010 he’s working with Kanye West and No ID. Talk about keeping it real, Common’s been working with No ID since before he was signed or even famous. Working with two producers from his hometown Chicago, sounds like it’s going to be a banger. Chicago artists have been putting out some good music lately by signed and unsigned artists. The album is currently being worked on the album is entitled The Believer. Although there’s no official release date Common said he is hoping to have the release by fall of 2010. Common describes the album as “soulful Hip Hop.” Well thanks for that bit of information, Common’s been making soulful Hip Hop for years now. “It’s ‘good’ music,” he said. “The themes are street music and elevation, things that I feel like I always embody when I rap. But here there’s new situations, new solutions.” I hear that we are looking forward to hearing some new Common music with some No ID beats behind it. Check back for the album review a few weeks before the album comes out.

Eminem Changes Name Of Album To Drop In June
by EJah on Apr.16, 2010, under Artists, Music, News
Emimen announced he wasn’t going to drop the album Relapse 2 this year. Instead he’s changing the name of the
album to Recovery. Eminem explains what brought the change on.
“I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year.” But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.”
Yeah that makes sense, the album is supposed to drop on June 22nd. Confirmed producers so far, Just Blaze, Boi-1da, Jim Jonsin and DJ Khalil. Hope this album is better than Relapse from last year, I didn’t think that was very good and it didn’t make a lot of noise in the industry. Is Em’s hype dead for good, I guess we’ll see in June.
